With offices on Bay Street in Toronto, we assist clients with Canadian (and foreign) divorces, pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, “common law” separations, custody, access, support, relative adoptions, and other family law issues.
Trevor has been helping spouses and parents with their family law issues since 2008.
After graduating from the University of Victoria in BC, he articled then practiced at large firms in downtown Vancouver. In 2011, he began work at a leading Vancouver family law firm. After two years in the firm’s Vancouver office, he opened their Toronto office. In 2016, he started Smith Family Law to continue serving clients with the focused attention they deserve.

Laaiba joined Smith Family Law as an associate lawyer in September 2023. Prior to joining the firm, she articled then worked as an associate at one of the largest law firms in the country with offices across Canada and around the world.
Laaiba graduated with a Canadian and an American law degree from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in both Ontario and Alberta.
In her free time, Laaiba enjoys travelling, exploring Toronto’s food scene, and spending time with her family and friends.

Suzanne is our law clerk, office manager, and a commissioner for taking oaths in Ontario. She keeps a steady hand on all the firm’s business and is the first and best resource for our clients.
Suzanne has over a decade of experience as a law clerk. She is our main liaison with courts across the province and knows how to deal with even the most unusual and complicated filing and scheduling issues. Her resourcefulness, positive attitude, and attention to detail keep our files running smoothly. She is also very crafty.
